née en 2002, vit et travaille à Paris.

Elle est actuellement étudiante en dernière année aux Beaux-Arts de Paris dans l’atelier de peinture de Nina Childress. En 2024 elle étudie à la School of the Art Institute de Chicago pendant plusieurs mois.

La pratique de Julia Aknin explore la peinture expérimentale et ses possibilités à travers les représentations du féminin issues des médias, du cinéma et de la culture populaire. Par un processus de digestion et de réappropriation des images, son travail adopte une approche pluridisciplinaire mêlant sérigraphie, dessin, collage, pochoir et aérosole.

She is currently a final year master student at Beaux-Arts de Paris in Nina Childress’s painting studio (graduating in september 2026). In 2024 she studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2025 she was awarded a Bredin-Prat grant supporting artistic creation.

Julia Aknin’s practice explores painting and its possibilities through representation of the feminity portrayed in media, cinema and pop culture. By digesting and reappropriating images, her work adopts a multidisciplinary approach combining screeprint, drawing, collage, stencils and spray paint.
